This week, the Society announced the shortlists for its 2023 prizes for first books and articles written by early career historians.
- The RHS Whitfield Prize is awarded annually for a first monograph in the field of British and Irish History. Details of this year’s six shortlisted books are available here.
- The RHS Gladstone Prize is awarded annually for a first monograph in the field of European and World History. Details of this year’s six shortlisted books are available here.
- The RHS Alexander Prize is awarded annually for an article or book chapter written by an early career historian who is either studying for a PhD or is within two years of having completed a PhD. Details of this year’s six shortlisted books are available here.
The winners of this year’s Whitfield, Gladstone and Alexander Prizes will be announced on Friday 21 June.
