In November 2025, the Society released its new Guide for Members to highlight the benefits available to current Fellows and Members. The Guide provides information relating to the following areas of membership, with links to relevant pages on the RHS website:

- Additional benefits available to Fellows of the Society
The Guide for Members also provides information on other areas of the Society’s work of benefit to members. These include advocacy and campaigning, policy and research, and prizes. We will update the Guide as we develop the range of benefits of membership.
If you are new to the Society, we hope you find this a useful introduction to making the most if your association.
For existing members, the Guide offers a reminder of what’s available to you and highlights some recent additions to your membership of the Society.
The Society welcomes applications from historians of all kinds, backgrounds and career stages to join us. Membership is open to historians active in the UK and worldwide. We offer four categories of membership: Fellowship, Associate Fellowship, Membership and Postgraduate Membership. More on joining the Society.
