Women and Worlds of Learning: From the Medieval to the Modern Day - POSTER COMPETITION

Poster Competition, deadline – 1 March 2024

We welcome applications from final-year undergraduate, masters and doctoral students, as well as early career researchers.

The ‘Women and Worlds of Learning’ conference is dedicated to the promotion of PGR and ECR research. We are running a poster competition to allow PGR students and ECRs to share their work. Posters should be related to the theme of the conference regarding the different experiences of women in intellectual spheres and how these roles have developed over time. Applications from Masters and final-year undergraduate students are also welcome.

Topics may include (but are not limited to):

  • Types of female engagement with higher education (as students, teachers, researchers, employees, patrons)
  • Female spaces and opportunities in education
  • Feminist approaches and analysis within higher education
  • Trans, gender nonconforming and BIPOC experiences in academia
  • Women within intellectual networks/communities outside of universities
  • The roles of women in relation to different academic disciplines

Posters will be on display throughout the conference, and prior to the conference dinner, there will be time dedicated to the poster competition where delegates can engage with PGR students and ECRs. Participants will be required to give a short presentation of their poster (5 minutes), and will be judged on the combination of the physical poster and presentation. Posters will be A2 sized and printed by the conference committee.

Deadline: Friday 1st March 2024

Please submit a short abstract of no more than 250 words summarising your research. Submission should be sent to womenandworldsoflearning@gmail.com.

Successful applicants will be notified by 8th March and will be expected to submit their posters for printing by 29th March.
