Call for Papers for New Research in Dress History Conference 2025
The conference will be held on Thursday, 22nd May 2025.
The New Research in Dress History conference welcomes submissions from researchers new to the fieldof dress, textile and fashion history. We are particularly interested in hearing about new perspectives,new discoveries and new ways of sharing themes covering dress, adornment, and its materials, fromdiverse worldviews and addressing global histories. We encourage submissions from candidates with educational, personal, and cultural backgrounds whomay consider themselves outside established academia or who are currently undertaking or just finishedpostgraduate studies.
To submit a proposal to present a 15-minute (maximum) paper at the conference, email the following information by the deadline, 11:59 pm GMT, 20th March 2025, to NewResearch@dresshistorians.org as a .doc or .docx attachment (not a .pdf).
- The object of the email must be “Submission to New Research 2025”
- A 250-word (maximum) abstract (without footnotes) that describes your paper.
- 5-8 Key words.
- A 100-word (maximum) biography to be published in the PDF programme on selection.
Potential ADH conference speakers are not required to hold an ADH membership at the time of proposal submission;however, all accepted conference speakers must hold a current annual ADH membership for the year in which they present.The term “conference speaker” includes all those who participate in the conference, including speakers, panel chairs, posterpresentations, et cetera. This policy does not include conference attendees in the audience, who are welcome to purchase anon-ADH member ticket. ADH memberships are £15 per year and support our charity and scholarship in dress history.
