This exhibition launch presents the outcomes of Heritage and History in Practice, a participatory research project at the University of Lancashire exploring how personal and community heritage can contribute to historical research. Over six workshops, participants worked collaboratively with researchers to identify, digitise, and interpret family photographs and archival materials, developing a range of public history outputs.
The exhibition showcases these co-produced works, including interpretive texts, visual displays, and short articles, demonstrating how everyday heritage materials can be situated within wider historical contexts. It highlights the value of participatory approaches in expanding historical knowledge and fostering meaningful collaboration between universities and the public.
All are welcome to attend this free event, which celebrates the role of shared authority, creativity, and lived experience in shaping the practice of history.
To be held at Student Centre, 43 Adelphi Street, Fylde Road, Preston, PR1 7DP, United Kingdom.
