At the North American Conference on British Studies in Baltimore in November 2023, two linked panels that had been organised by Laura Flannigan and Charmian Mansell, and chaired by Krista Kesselring, brought together a group of early career researchers who were bringing new approaches to, and extracting fresh insights from, early modern English and Welsh legal source material.
The many-headed monster invited the participants to produce plog posts of their papers to create an online symposium exploring the relationship between the people and the law in the early modern period.
Across April and May of 2024, Zoë Jackson, Laura Flannigan, Lucy Kaufman, Charmian Mansell, Emily Rhodes and Angela Muir all contributed to an excellent series that showcased some of the fascinating topics that these materials are currently being used to investigate. It will be of interest to early modern scholars, and a useful resource for introducing students to primary sources.
