The 21st Thirteenth Century Conference (formerly Thirteenth Century England Conference) - CONFERENCE

We are delighted to announce that the University of Lincoln is hosting the Biennial 21st Thirteenth Century Conference (formerly called the Thirteenth Century England Conference) on Friday 5th to Sunday 7th September 2025, with the kind support of the Lincoln Record Society and the Pipe Roll Society.

Our keynote lecture – the first Bjorn Weiler Memorial Lecture – will be delivered by Professor Daniel Power of the University of Swansea, focusing on Eleanor of Castile, Edward I’s first wife and queen, whose viscera are buried in Lincoln Cathedral.

Our programme of papers by doctoral students, early career researchers and established scholars covers a wide range of fascinating topics, including monastic records, kingship, queenship, royal administration, inclusion and exclusion, elite women, lordship and service, and disputes and jurisdictions. The conference also includes a special panel on ‘New Perspectives on Lincolnshire Records’, featuring talks by Dr Hannah Boston, Dr Paul Dryburgh, Dr Dean Irwin, Dr Will Eves and Dr Sarah White. The full programme, including speakers from Lincoln, London, Cambridge, Hamburg, Hull, UEA, Nottingham, Southern Denmark, Reading, Swansea, Canterbury, and elsewhere, can be accessed here: https://msrg.blogs.lincoln.ac.uk/blog/

Registration rates (excluding accommodation) are: Concession rate for in-person attendance (students, retired, unwaged, Lincoln Record Society members): £50; Full delegate rate: £110; Delegate rate for on-line attendance: £35 (via MS Teams as our current planned platform).
