“Speaking of History” marks the online publication of two major collections of audio-visual material.

The first collection is ‘Interviews with Historians’, a collection of interviews between eminent historians conducted in the 1980s and 90s. Digitised recently from obsolete video tapes, the collection has been made available in full online once more.

The second collection is ‘A Historian’s Life’, a new podcast series in which historians consider their lives and practices as historians.

The event features: one of the founders of, and original interviewers for, Interviews, Professor Pat Thane, who will reflect on them 30 years since their creation; recent IHR Artist-in-Residence Adam Knight, who will discuss his creative response to the Interviews, including a new exhibition in the IHR Common Room; Head of IHR Library & Digital Neil Stewart on the project to digitise and make available the Interviews series; and IHR Senior Fellow Lisa Pine, the host of A Historian’s Life.

The event will be followed by the opening of the Interviews exhibition in the IHR Common Room and a drinks reception.
