Sensing Marylebone: An Interactive Art Talk - LECTURE

‘Sensing Marylebone – An Interactive Art Talk’ will be hosted by the wonderful Jon Sleigh, who will be taking the audience through a guided tour of the senses – a live and interactive guide to a 19th century painting.

The hour-long lecture will be exploring the 19th century painting ‘Punch or May Day’ by Benjamin Robert Haydon, famously set in Marylebone. Jon will be using not only visuals, but audio to ‘hear’ the painting, taste along elements, tactile materials, and items to smell, helping to bring the canvas to life. An exciting and unique event!

Jon Sleigh is a learning curator, arts educator, and writer, and has given talks at the National Gallery, National Portrait Gallery, and the Wallace.

Tickets are just £5 and it will take place in the St Marylebone Church Crypt from 6:30-7:30pm on Wednesday the 9th April 2025. Drinks will be available for purchase.
