Royal Armouries conference - Interpreting the Norman Conquest in 2016

To mark the 950th anniversary of the Norman Conquest, the Royal Armouries will be holding a public lecture and two-day conference at the Tower of London.

The conference will begin on the evening of 14 October – the date of the battle of Hastings – with a lecture by Professor David Bates, author of the forthcoming Yale biography of William the Conqueror, entitled ‘1066 in 2016: Putting the Norman Conquest into perspective’.

On Saturday evening there will be a drinks reception in The White Tower, a building which William the Conqueror began.

The conference will appeal to delegates with a wide range of interests in the period and the schedule allows ample opportunity for Q&As and discussion with our speakers.

Conference fees include entry to the Tower of London and refreshments throughout.
