The British Civil Wars and their aftermath marked the beginning of formal state recognition of its unique obligations to the welfare of military veterans and widows Armed Forces Covenant

Join us for this unique live webcast, sharing the experiences of veterans and their families after the British Civil Wars and the welfare of today’s veterans and their dependents. This unique webcast will bring the past and present together.

Our distinguished panel will explore the foundations of military welfare in the seventeenth century and links to the welfare of today’s veterans and their families.

The panel will consist of:

  • Lt Gen (Rtd) Martin Bricknell, Professor of Conflict, Health and Military Medicine, King’s College London
  • Professor Andrew Hopper, University of Oxford, Principal Investigator of the Civil War Petitions project
  • Dr Ismini Pells, University of Oxford, Project Manager of the Civil War Petitions project
