This half-day workshop explores different aspects of orality in early modern France – ranging from the Bible as an oral text, to criminal trials, public speaking, story-telling and songs.

The workshop will feature a plenary talk by Mack Holt and contributions from Kate Astbury, Emily Butterworth, Mark Greengrass, Tom Hamilton, Alison Morgan and David Nicoll.

All are welcome and the event is free but please sign up in advance so that we have an idea of numbers.
