ON BELONGING 2: ENGLISH CONCEPTIONS OF MIGRATION AND TRANSCULTURALITY, 1550-1700: deadline 30 April 2021

We are happy to announce that the Call for Papers for our summer 2021 conference is now open! Leading on from our first ‘On Belonging’ conference in 2018, ‘On Belonging 2’ will take place online, with morning and afternoon sessions spread out over 5 days between 26–30 July 2021.

The conference will reflect on how processes of global exchange in the early modern period influenced English identity, and how the movement of peoples, objects, and ideas across the globe shaped English concepts of belonging both at home and abroad. In keeping with our aim to encourage conversation and exchange, we are moving away from the model of single-scholar keynotes, and we welcome interventions from a variety of approaches, methodologies, and disciplines.

The full CfP can be downloaded here: http://www.tideproject.uk/on-belonging-2/, and we would be happy to answer any queries. Please send abstracts of up to 300 words along with a short biographical note including institutional affiliation (250 words) to tide@ell.ox.ac.uk by 30 April 2021.
