My IWM: Wendy Holden - LECTURE

My IWM offers you the opportunity to join journalist, war correspondent and author Wendy Holden for a personal tour of the Imperial War Museum (IWM) London, exploring the stories behind items in IWM’s collections closely related to her life and work. From discovering objects from the war against Japan in Burma where her father fought, items from the Gulf War where Wendy worked as a war correspondent for the Daily Telegraph, or stories from the Holocaust, which Wendy has written about extensively.

Wendy’s latest book, The Teacher of Auschwitz, tells the story of Fredy Hirsch. Hirsch was a German-Jewish athlete and sports teacher who tried to protect children from the horrors of the Holocaust in Terezín Ghetto and Auschwitz-Birkenau.
