Call for Papers, deadline – 14 March 2025
The British History in the Long Eighteenth Century Seminar at the Institute of Historical Research in London is seeking early-stage PhD students (first or second year and part time equivalents) to deliver in-person five-minute ‘lightning talks’ on their research. The event, part of the regular fortnightly seminar series, will be held in hybrid format on Wednesday 14th May 2025 between 17:30 and 19:30 (London Time).
This is a great opportunity to demonstrate your presentational skills, to meet fellow postgraduates, and to disseminate your research to an engaged international audience.
The event is designed to allow new research students to get to know their contemporaries and build a sense of belonging to a wider community and profession. The Lightning Talks themselves are also highly valued by regular attendees for providing a snapshot of the direction of forthcoming historical research
If you would like to apply, please submit your name, university affiliation, year of study (whether part-time or full-time), name of supervisor, your working thesis title or area of research, and a brief summary of your topic (one paragraph or less) by 14th March 2025.
Applications are welcome from both UK and international students whose research is in the relevant area (British History c. 1660-1830).
