Eric J Hobsbawm Memorial Lecture 2016: European History in the Age of Hobsbawm

Eric J. Hobsbawm (1917-2012) was one of the most influential historians of the last century. He taught at Birkbeck all of his professional life and became its President in 2002. In his memory, Birkbeck has set up the Hobsbawm Scholarship Fund to support the next generation of talented historians in its pursuit of original, high-quality research.

Speakers: Sir Richard J. Evans (University of Cambridge) Sir Richard J. Evans is President of Wolfson College, Cambridge, and Provost of Gresham College, London. His most recent publication is The Third Reich in History and Memory (Little,Brown 2015). The Pursuit of Power: Europe 1815-1914 will come out with Penguin in September 2016.
