A call for participants for a workshop to explore a work-in-progress database of British Army officers from the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars.
This workshop is an opportunity to get first sight of a database of around 40,000 individuals who served as officers in the British Army between 1790 and 1820. Based on transcriptions of the printed annual Army Lists and using cutting-edge technology to match records, this will be a hands-on event. You’ll provide input into the design of the database, the ways it could be used, and share insights. The workshop will also shape the research agenda for the database as well as discuss future potential collaborations.
We’re interested in inter-disciplinary perspectives, and welcome interest from historians, digital humanities professionals, postgraduate students, archivists, and museum curators. No technical skills (for example in database design) are required to participate in this workshop.
Travel costs and accommodation for the workshop will be covered. Refreshments and lunch will be available during the workshop.
The workshop is part of the AHRC-funded ‘Re-Archiving the Individual’ project.
