As part of the Wellcome Trust project, ‘Growing Old in the Soviet Union, 1945-1991’ (Research Enrichment Public Engagement, grant ref. no: 209842/Z/17/A) two events will take place in Liverpool that explore issues of ageing through dance. Both events are open to the public and invite discussion about the experience of ageing. Older age people are particularly welcome to attend.
The first dance soiree, a live 30-minute performance followed by audience discussion, will take place at Unity Theatre, Liverpool on Friday 25 November 19.30-21.00. The second event will take place at FACT, Liverpool on Saturday December 17, 16.00-17.30 and will feature a film screening of the dance followed by a 60-minute discussion. Refreshments will be provided at both events.
The dance follows the life trajectory of two Soviet citizens and explores some of the issues they encounter as they age in the late socialist period. Some of these issues, such as mental and physical health, relationships, and societal attitudes, also speak to ageing experiences in the UK and elsewhere. The project team is interested in hearing your views about ageing and older people.
Please note this is an in-person event at the Unity Theatre, Liverpool.
