The next seminar of the Institute of Historical Research’s Partnership seminar series “Risk and Uncertainty in the Premodern World” will run online on Thursday 24 March, 16:30-18:15 London time. We are delighted to be hosting Ellen Nye and Gregory Smaldone for a seminar on “Credit, Risk and Uncertainty”.

Ellen Nye (Yale): Cartographies of Credit: Risk and Obligation between the Ottoman and English Empire, 1670-1720

Gregory Smaldone (Johns Hopkins): The Abricots Atelier: Rival Geographies and the Credit of Absolutism
