British Commission for Military History - CALL FOR PAPERS

Call for Conference Papers, deadline – 8 September 2023

The British Commission for Military History, in association with The University of Hull, invites papers for the Commission’s annual New Researcher’s Conference.

Following 2022’s highly successful Conference at the University of Salford, the 13th New Researchers’ Conference will be held at the University of Hull on Saturday 21st October, 2023.

The Conference provides an annual forum for postgraduate and early career researchers in military history related disciplines to present their work in a constructive, supportive environment, as well as promoting networking with fellow historians.

We welcome proposals for papers concerning the broad range of traditional aspects of military history, such as strategy, tactics, organisations and technology as well as researchers covering other themes and methodologies including (though not limited to) representations and perceptions of conflict, and papers focusing on the interrelation of conflict, race and gender.

The conference will take place at the University of Hull campus’ Business School, HU6 7RX.

Proposals of around 300 words for papers of 20 minutes in duration should be submitted to the conference organiser Dr James R Pritchett by the 8 September 2023. His email address is j.r.pritchett@hull.ac.uk
