An Introduction to the UK Gallup Polls Archive, 1955-1991

 

This training webinar will introduce a new resource of over 800 UK Gallup polls fielded between 1955 and 1991. The data has been collected through an ESRC award to the University of Southampton in partnership with the Roper Center for Public Opinion Research at Cornell University. This webinar will provide historical background on Gallup’s polling activities in the UK during this period, information about the collection of polls held by Roper, details of the process for conversion of ‘column binary format’ data into contemporary formats, and introduce the structure of the converted datasets that will soon be accessible to research users as well as how to access the data via the Roper catalogue.
