Accessing Archives
Ever struggled to access archives due to being disabled, deaf, neurodivergent or having a chronic illness? So have we!
We are setting up a network for people who identify as disabled, deaf, chronically ill, or neurodivergent, and who are also historians (you don’t need to be an academic historian or work in a history department to join!).
As disabled historians ourselves, we have encountered numerous obstacles in our quest to access archives and propose an informal peer network for collaborative conversation by and for disabled historians to discuss our experiences, share tips, and advocate for improved access.
We are going to hold an initial online meeting at 2pm on Monday, 16th June. If you would like to join, or if you can’t join but would like further information about our activities, please sign up to this mailing list.
We are funded by the Welcome Anti-Ableism Cultures project at the University of Sheffield. For additional information, please email Esme Cleall e.r.cleall@sheffield.ac.uk or Rachel Bright r.k.bright@keele.ac.uk.
