1968: The Year That Broke Politics - LECTURE

A Leverhulme Visiting Professor Public Lecture

The 1968 presidential election was the most divisive in modern U.S. history. The race between Democrat Hubert Humphrey, Republican Richard Nixon, and independent George Wallace, with outgoing President Lyndon Johnson active behind the scenes, contains striking parallels to 2024.

The talk will be delivered by Professor Luke Nichter, Leverhulme Visiting Professor of History here at York St John University and Professor of History & James H. Cavanaugh Endowed Chair in Presidential Studies, Chapman University, Orange California.

This is a hybrid event – attendees can book to join in person or online.
