The Royal Historical is looking for a talented and enthusiastic Research and Communications Officer who shares our commitment to supporting historians and promoting the discipline within the UK.
The successful candidate will have been educated to degree level and is likely to have a postgraduate qualification. They will have a proven ability to undertake independent research. They may have some experience of public relations and social medial work. Candidates will need to persuade us they have the communication, organisational, research and interpersonal skills required to carry out the role effectively and to demonstrate a commitment to widening engagement with the Society beyond our traditional constituency. It is important that you have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Previous experience of working in either a learned organisation or the UK higher education sector would be an advantage but is not a requirement.
Contract: 0.5 FTE, Fixed term, 12 months in the first instance with the possibility of renewal
Location: The post is based in central London (currently WFH due to COVID-19 outbreak)
Start date: 1 April 2021
Reporting to: Trustee Body of President, Vice Presidents, Officers and Councillors
Salary: Grade 7 UCL pay scale (currently £36,028), pro rata.
