The Society makes two awards annually to promote innovative History teaching in UK Higher Education. From 2023 the Jinty Nelson Teaching Awards — of £1000 each — will facilitate innovative and creative teaching practice, with grants being used to fund new approaches to History pedagogy.

The awards are named for the medieval historian, Dame Jinty Nelson FBA, a former President of the Society between 2001 and 2005.

Further details of the new-format Jinty Nelson Teaching Awards (2023) will be announced shortly.

  • Submissions for the 2023 Awards will open: 31 March 2023. All submissions will be via the RHS Prize Applications Portal.

All enquiries about the 2023 Teaching Awards should be addressed to the RHS. Please contact the Membership and Administration Officer at: administration@royalhistsoc.org.
