Long Nineteenth Century Symposium - Call for Papers: deadline 21 May 2021

LONG NINETEENTH CENTURY SYMPOSIUM – DEADLINE 21 MAY 2021

Manchester Metropolitan University

  • New approaches to gender in the nineteenth century
  • Reading the nineteenth-century North West
  • Decolonising methodologies in nineteenth-century studies.

In order to foster collaboration across the post-graduate community within the field of the long 19C, this event seeks to explore some of the cross-thematic research priorities at the centre of doctoral studies. Each of these three panels offer opportunities to present and discuss cutting-edge approaches and findings to key topics of concern during a period of immense change that continues to inspire reflection. We invite presentations and round-table contributions from any discipline that concerns the long 19C within these three general themes. For paper presentations, please provide an abstract in Word of no longer than 250 words by Friday, 21 May 2021 to long19cmmu@gmail.com stating the panel theme in the subject of the email.

Those wishing to contribute to the round-table discussions only should register for the event at the Eventbrite link below. In addition to the thematic panels, a workshop, Navigating 19C Archives and Special Collections, will also take place.
