UK Data Service – Accessing Historical Census Data

Date / time: 2 February, All day

Call for Support

The UK Data Service currently holds aggregate (tabular) and microdata (individual sample) census data from 1971 – 2011 with plans to incorporate data back to 1931 once this is released by the Office for National Statistics. The Service also holds aggregate and microdata for census data from 1851 – 1911 with plans to incorporate 1921 data once it is available. There are additional restrictions on individual data for this older data due to commercial ownership by the partner who provided the data to the authors of the ICEM study.

The UK Data Service is planning to update its systems to improve access to these datasets and wanted to talk to likely users who could inform this process. If you would like to contribute your views and suggestions, please email Nigel de Noronha at nigel.denoronha@manchester.ac.uk. Alternatively, you can write to CMI, Humanities Bridgeford Street, University of Manchester, M13 9PL.
