Scottish Church History Society Autumn Conference

Date / time: 17 October, 12:00 am

Call for Papers, deadline – 17 October 2022

The call for papers is now open for the SCHS autumn conference, which will be held on Saturday 19 November 2022. This will be a hybrid event run from Edinburgh Theological Seminary. Speakers and attendees will have the option of online or in-person attendance.

We are delighted to announce that our keynote speaker is Dr Valerie Wallace, recently appointed to a lectureship in Scottish History & the Global Context at the University of St Andrews. Dr Wallace’s paper is entitled:

‘Covenanted Empire: The Reformed Presbyterian Church of Scotland and British Imperialism’.

We welcome proposals for twenty-minute papers on any aspect of Scottish church history from postgraduate students, early career researchers, and independent or established scholars. No one period will receive precedence; proposals will be assessed according to their novelty and appeal. Interdisciplinary approaches are also encouraged – art, economic, gender, literary, legal, political, intellectual, and social historians are welcome to apply.

Abstracts of 250 words should be sent with a short biographical note to schsconf@outlook.com by Monday 17 October. Please specify whether you intend to deliver your paper in-person or remotely when you submit your abstract. Online attendance will be priced at £5; in-person tickets will cost £10 (student/unwaged) or £15 (full price adult ticket) and will include the cost of tea/coffee and a sandwich lunch. Please do send details of any dietary requirements at the time of booking.
