Re-evaluating Captain Fitzroy, inventor of the weather forecast

Charlie Connelly, author of Attention All Shipping and self-confessed Robert Fitzroy fan, pays tribute to the man best known as Darwin’s captain. In this entertaining lecture Connelly argues for a re-evaluation of Fitzroy’s legacy (he deserves to be remembered as the man who invented the weather forecast alone, for example) and places Fitzroy firmly in the pantheon of great Britons.
