Pitching Your Research to the Media

Date / time: 10 March, 9:30 am - 12:30 pm

Pitching Your Research to the Media

Hoping to share your research with a wider public audience? Looking to raise your media profile? This online session will help you workshop a media pitch for your humanities research and will arm you with the tools needed to approach journalists and producers.

The session will be made up of two parts. The first will be a workshop on how to write a pitch about your research so that it captures the media’s attention. Led by Professor Sarah Churchwell, this practical workshop will help you develop ideas about your work’s media potential. The second part of the session will be a panel discussion and Q&A with media experts Robyn Read (BBC Radio 3) and Bethan Jinkinson (BBC Ideas) and Professor Churchwell. Together they will discuss how to tailor research for the media and what media professionals look for when sharing academic research.

This is your chance to improve your skills in communicating your research to non-specialist audiences and ask those working in the industry what they are looking for. The session is for humanities academics at all levels.
