Date / time: 19 April, 2:30 pm - 4:00 pm

Location
LSE Library, Room 01

The Friends of TWL’s programme continues on 19 April at 2.30 pm, when Christine Wise will speak on ‘Bertha Newcombe (1857-1947): Art and Activism.’ Many of us know Newcombe’s painting of the presentation to Parliament of the 1866 petition on women’s suffrage, and this is our opportunity to learn more about her suffrage activism.

Christine Wise moved from the British Library to the then Fawcett Library in 1994, where she made a vital contribution to its transition to TWL by 2001. She researches art history, specialising in British women artists of the long 19th century, and most recently studied for an MA in the History of Art at Birkbeck, University of London.

This will be a hybrid meeting, taking place in Room 01 in LSE Library – please join us there in person from 2.00 pm, and please let us know in advance by emailing susan.pares38@gmail.com. This is to help with catering and to meet LSE Library’s request to notify them of numbers.
