Date / time: 3 October, 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Museum storerooms are filled with objects, and museums are encouraged to rationalise their collections through disposal. This online workshop is for anyone working or volunteering in a UK museum who thinks that disposal would benefit their museum.
The session comprises a presentation about the basics of disposal, what guidance exists to support you, some legal and ethical areas to consider, and practical examples from UK museums. This will be followed by a short workshop, in which participants can ask questions and seek advice from others.
The session is led by Dr Jenny Durrant, Fellow of the Royal Historical Society, member of the Museums Association Ethics Committee, and a sector leader in the disposal process.
